How do I Check the Engine on a 125 Ford F-150? Auto diagnostics

1Climb into the F-150's driver's seat. Connect the datalink cable on a scan tool to the diagnostic trouble code plug beneath the F-150's driver's side dashboard. The DTC plug is rectangular and has the letters "DTC" embossed on the cover. Turn the ignition towards the run position.

2Follow the scan tool's distinct instructions for running a swift test on the F-150's PCM. When the scan tool displays the engine codes Vehicle Diagnostic equipment, write them down for future reference.

3Complete the rapid test following the scan tools instructions. Do not erase the F-150's engine codes when prompted to do so unless you have got currently performed the troubleshooting and repairs.

4Disconnect the datalink cable from the DTC port by hand. Shut off the F-150's ignition.
